The ICF Executive and Leadership Community of Practice and our guest speakers Barbara Braham and Chris Wahl describe skill-centric and self-determining stages of development. Coaches will learn to distinguish where a client is at in their development stages and coach accordingly. Coaches will also learn how to communicate effectively and help facilitate results through designing actions and goal planning. Throughout this webinar coaches will learn how to establish trust & intimacy with the client through active listening and powerful questioning.

Barbara Braham, Ph.D., MCC, takes a developmental approach to working with leaders and their teams. She also trains coaches in how to bring a developmental approach to their work with leaders. Since 2005 she has studied adult development theory with Dr. Susanne Cook-Greuter and is certified to both score and debrief the Maturity Assessment Profile (MAP), the most well-researched tool available to assess one’s stage of development. She serves on the faculty of the Georgetown Leadership Coaching Certificate program, where she teaches a class on stages of development and coaching. Barbara has worked with the boutique consulting firm Innolect since 2000 and currently serves as the firm’s Coaching Practice Lead. She also coaches in Notre Dame’s Executive Integral MBA program using The Leadership Circle 360. An accomplished author, she has written eleven books, including Finding Your Purpose which has been translated into seven languages, and Be Your Own Coach which was co-authored with Chris Wahl.
Chris Wahl is an executive coach and organization development consultant who has coached executive leaders and their teams for over two decades. Certified as a developmental coach, Chris brings a developmental perspective to her work with leaders, helping them build their capacity to succeed beyond their challenges and recognize opportunities to create a thriving professional life. Sought after for her wise counsel, appreciative approach, clarity and pragmatism, Chris works with leaders interested in generating enlivening change aimed at creating more effective results. Chris is the founder and creator of the Georgetown University Leadership Coaching Certificate program, where she teaches a course on coaching teams. She is adjunct faculty in Georgetown’s Transformational Leadership program, as well as in George Mason University’s advanced coaching program. Chris coaches in Notre Dame’s Executive MBA program.
